The Jack Keegan Female Scholar Athlete Award honors deserving young women from four Stamford public and private high schools. The scholar athlete is chosen by the individual school’s athletic department. Each young woman is awarded a scholarship and commemorative plaque.
Over 30 years ago, the club members listened to their daughters as they pointed out that all the athletic awards and recognition was given only to the male athletes. The decision was made to honor young women who earned showed both strong academic and athletic achievements. This award is named in honor of one of the North Stamford Exchange Club’s original members, Jack Keegan, Jack’s love of sports, his dedication to bettering himself both mentally and physically, and his sense of fair play are truly reflected in this award.
